Airport & Aviation Security Screening

What X-ray equipment does an airport checkpoint need?

An airport screening line usually needs three tiers of X-ray equipment: compact dual-energy scanners for hand baggage and staff bags, checkpoint scanners with a larger tunnel for cabin baggage at high throughput, and large-tunnel machines for hold baggage, oversize items and cargo. FjXray manufactures all three tiers, and the models below are matched to each tier.

Which model fits which position?

  • Hand baggage and staff bags — 5030C: compact dual-energy scanner for handbags, parcels and express items, with 4/7-colour material classification.
  • Cabin baggage at high throughput — 6550C / 6550D: the 6550C is single-view, the 6550D adds a second view per scan so overlapping items can be separated without re-scanning.
  • Hold baggage and bulky items — 8065C: large tunnel, 0.8 mm spatial resolution and 32–40 mm steel penetration.
  • Oversize, pallets and cargo — 10080C / 10080D / 150180C: pallet-class tunnels for freight that cannot be unloaded.

What certifications do airport operators ask for?

The scanners carry CE, RoHS and FDA certification plus approval from the China Ministry of Public Security. Airport acceptance is decided by the local regulator; the factory supplies test reports, radiation-safety documentation and declaration of conformity for that review.

Frequently asked questions

Dual-view or dual-energy — which matters more at a checkpoint?

They solve different problems. Dual-energy classifies material (organic, inorganic, metal); dual-view adds a second angle so overlapping objects can be told apart. Busy checkpoints usually want both, which is why the 6550D exists.

Can the scanners be integrated with a conveyor or sorting line?

Conveyor height, belt speed and I/O can be specified per project. Integration details are agreed at quotation.

What is the typical lead time?

Standard models ship from stock in weeks; customised tunnel sizes, branding and SKD orders take longer. The exact schedule is confirmed with the quotation.
